Winning Double For Farm

« Back to News

Bluegables Farm enjoyed success yesterday on both the home and away fronts with victories at Pukekohe and in Hong Kong.

Promising three-year-old Blue Nile claimed the opening leg of a winning double with a deserved maiden success. The son of Nadeem had weighed in at five of his previous six appearances for Cambridge trainer Murray Baker. He was put aside after finishing runner-up at Ellerslie in early November and returned yesterday to score over 1200 metres. Blue Nile was purchased by Masterton agent Bruce Perry from Bluegables’ 2010 Premier Sale line-up for $80,000. A half-brother to Gr 3 Chairman’s Handicap winner Humma, he is out of the Western Symphony mare Blue Lady.

It is also the family of another Bluegables graduate and Listed Soliloquy Stakes winner Singapore Sling. At Sha Tin last night the Handsome Ransom five-year-old Super Team claimed a class four metric mile. He is out of the Marscay mare L’Affair and a pedigree that features a number of North American black-type winners. A $40,000 Festival Sale purchase in 2008, he has now won twice from from eight career appearances.
