An international pedigree was to the fore at Waverley yesterday when Winning Line bounced back to her best form. The daughter of Gr 1 Goodwood Handicap winner Perfectly Ready was successful second-up over 1650 metres. A Bluegables Farm graduate, the four-year-old is out the first foal of the Montjeu mare Ellen Tina.
It is a family that has produced black type performers in Canada, France, Ireland, Italy and the United States. Winning Line is prepared at Foxton by David Haworth and Matt Dixon and has now won twice from six appearances.
The stable were delighted to see her perform so well at Waverley after a below-par effort when resuming. “She had been working well so it was a bit of a mystery,” Dixon said. “We’ll get her home and see how she does before we decide what to do next.” The Foxton trainers are confident Winning Line can continue her progress through the grades in good time.
