Romstar has wasted no time opening his winning account with a decisive maiden victory at the Sale meeting. The Bluegables Farm graduate had placed at his only two previous appearances and made no mistake over 1400 metres with two and a-half lengths to spare on his nearest rival.
By champion New Zealand first-season sire Perfectly Ready, he was a debut fourth on the synthetic track at Geelong in July and then finished third at Seymour earlier this month. He is prepared at Caulfield by leading Melbourne trainer Mick Price who purchased the gelding out of the nursery's Select Sale consignment to Karaka last year for $65,000.
Romstar is a half-brother to the multiple winner Devoted who was successful at black type level in the Listed Waikato Sprint and was Gr 3 placed in the Lion Red Plate. They are out of the unraced Spectacular Love mare Loving Is Fun who hails from the family of the Gr 1 Hollywood Derby winner and successful sire Racing Is Fun.
