Bluegables Farm graduate Silver City kept his perfect record intact when he claimed Saturday's Listed Wellesley Stakes at Trentham.
The precocious youngster had won on debut at Ruakaka last month and continued his winning habit at the other end of the North Island.
“We’ve got quite a bit of time for him,” part-owner Trevor McKee said. “He was left in front a bit early and he’s better chasing but he got the job done and he goes pretty well.”
Silver City is trained at Ardmore by McKee's son Stephen who purchased him for $58,000 out of Bluegables' Festival Sale draft to Karaka earlier this year.
He is a son of the Gr.1 Keeneland Turf Mile Stakes winner Nothing To Lose and the winning Aucash mare She’s Just Dreamy.
She is in turn a daughter of the multiple Australian stakes winner Blushing Bijou.
Ridden by Sam Spratt, Silver City was in touch with the pace throughout and kicked on strongly in the run home to win by a short neck.
"Trevor said to get off the rail and he races better in the open and won really nicely," Spratt said.
"He’s going to be better later on but he’s a little professional with a big, long stride and he only does what he has to."
