Lisa Anderson’s faith in Singapore Sling was justified at Ellerslie at the weekend when the grey mare turned her form around. The Te Aroha trainer believed only a change in fortune was required for the four-year-old to return to her best. “In her first two runs she went to the line under a hold and was unlucky and you could forget she went around at Rotorua,” she said. “This is probably the best she’s ever felt work-wise and attitude-wise.”
The Bluegables Farm graduate put it all together at Ellerslie to come with a well-timed finish to down the Rating 85 metric milers. Singapore Sling has now won four times, including a defeat at three of the dual Group winner Dating in the Listed Soliloquy Stakes.
By Starcraft, she was a $15,000 purchase out of Bluegables’ Select Sale draft to Karaka in 2009. Singapore Sling is out of the winning Western Symphony mare Gin Sling from the family of the dual Gr 1 winnr Zarita.
